How was 2020?
It started with me moving to Singapore on Jan 1. Been here for a year, can say Singapore is not my piece of cake, but good to visit anyways. I worked at one startup, but when COVID hit, it sink and even their building got demolished. Then I did another rounds of interviews, and joined big company, with its own peculiarities. Meanwhile, I also did..
Open-Source, I made two good open source projects that I am proud of and couple of small contributions to two well-known projects
Certifications, I got two more from AWS to showcase what I know
Mentorship, I found bootcamps where I can do volunteering teaching.. coming in 2021.
Zoom-drinking with legit neuroscientists, where I learned that some have datasets as small as 40MB, and some deal with voxels of fMRI of 200GB+
.. that lead me to write some Julia for computational neuroscience for project OIST (Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology… reminds me of KAIST) Neural Coding and Brain Computing. Some small code refactoring, but interesting to see neuroscience research project code.
I worked out a lot, despite of ultra-hot weather. I read a lot good things, which brought me great joy. I started learning Korean again. I had one short pleasant trip to Seoul in Feb.
What I think of 2021?
Work, open source, certifications, mentorship. Excersicing, books, Korean. Open borders and travel.
